The Frighteners. In Season One of The Avengers, Ian Hendry played Dr David Keel who set out to avenge the death of his fiancee, shot in a London street by thugs. His partner during the espionage chase was John Steed, a hard-hitting, devil-may-care professional who co-opted Keel to assists in his crusading mission against the plug uglies; Keel, the amateur, representing the conscience and cynicism to Steed's cavalier treatment of people.
