Mc Cloud is paid to shoot outlaws. On the edge of the desert, he meets Judge Short and Fletcher, a trigger-happy young man. Short goes to Stopover to inquire about a crime which has been committed by Zimmer gang who terrorize the town. But he is killed by one of Zimmer's men. Mc Cloud arrives at Stopover and passes off as the judge. But Fletcher unexpectedly appears and denounces the imposture. The inhabitants are outraged at first and then they decide to help Mc Cloud to rid the town of its criminals.
